Guest Speaker: Robin Hogerhuis, Master in Special Education with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis. She is also a full-time homeschool teacher and mother with a son who is severely impacted by Autism.

Description: Parents who are unsatisfied with their child’s experience in neighborhood public schools are often unaware of other educational options. Learn about alternative educational placement for children with special needs, overview of placement options in private schools and special day charter schools, cost and instructions on how to pursue parent selected placement and “homeschool” or “home-studies” program via a charter school. Discussion about selecting and enrolling in an Orange County charter school and specialized services delivered by charter school to students with IEPs. This presentation will include some discussion of her personal experience as a full-time homeschool teacher to a second grade son who is severely impacted by autism; including pros and cons of a home studies program and an outline of a typical homeschool day.
